If you don't want to see it, you need to delete it. Currently you may need to inject Custom CSS on SharePoint Modern Pages using SPFx Extensions to hide the web part you want: WebAssuming you are using modern, News is just site pages and has an internal property called "PromotedState", when this value is 2, it's news.
